The following is a list of networking Mnemonics that can be used as a method of remembering certain aspects of networking.

1.DHCP process:

“DORA” – DHCP process of Discover, Offer, Request, Acknowledge

2. OSI Layers (from Layer 7 to 1):

“All People Seem To Need Data Processing” –  application, presentation, session, transport, network, data-link, physical

Please DNot Throw Salami Pizza Away” —  bottom-to-top (Layer 1 to 7)

3. K values in EIGRP:

“Big Dogs Really Like Me” –  bandwidth, delay, reliability, load, MTU

4. Syslog messages (ordered list):

“Every Alley Cat Eats Watery Noodles In Doors” – emergency, alert, critical, error, warning, notification, informational, debugging

another one – “Every Awesome Cisco Engineers Will Need Icecream Daily”

5. OSPFv3 LSA types:

“Routing Networks Is Indeed A Great New Learning Initiative” – router, network, inter-area prefix, inter-area router, AS external, group membership LSA, Type-7 NSSA, link LSA, intra-area prefix

Router LSA – Network LSA – InterArea Prefix LSA – InterArea Router LSA – AS External LSA – Group Membership LSA – NSSA LSA (Not so stubby Area) – Link LSA – IntraArea Prefix LSA
